Caroline Polachek Drops “On The Beach” for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach

American singer and producer Caroline Polachek has just released her latest single, “On The Beach”, a haunting and experimental track created for the soundtrack of the highly anticipated video game Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, directed by none other than Hideo Kojima.

The collaboration came about after Kojima discovered Polachek’s music and reached out. The two later met in Paris, and the creative synergy led to this unexpected project.

A Song Revived After Eight Years

Interestingly, “On The Beach” was originally composed over eight years ago, during the early days of Polachek’s work with Danny L Harle. The song had been shelved for years because it was “too alien and industrial” to fit on her 2019 album Pang.

“When Kojima approached me about DS2, I showed him the sketch. He agreed it was a perfect fit, so we reopened it, extended it, and finished it,” Polachek shared.

Official Video and Alternate Version

The release includes a new music video, as well as an alternate “Timefall Mix”, which features a haunting string arrangement that deepens the cinematic vibe.

Both versions reflect the moody, dystopian tone of Death Stranding’s universe, and showcase Polachek’s versatility as an artist unafraid to explore the darker, more avant-garde corners of her sound.
