MARSEILLE, FRANCE — Marseille-born musician, songwriter, and producer Manu Chevalier is back with his most infectious release yet. "I'm Alright" featuring Argentine vocalist Lumina B officially dropped May 22, 2026, and it's the kind of track that pulls you onto the dance floor before you even realize you've moved. Sitting comfortably in the Dua Lipa universe of disco-pop, "I'm Alright" pulses at a groove-forward 110 BPM, blending sleek chord progressions, a signature synthetic saxophone hook, and a chorus built to live rent-free in your head. The track is both a bold evolution of Chevalier's sound and a love letter to the pop-disco tradition — deceptively simple on the surface, meticulously crafted underneath.
The song was years in the making. Chevalier first began sketching the concept during his time at a London songwriting academy, where he challenged himself to write within a modern pop framework. After shelving an early version, the melody resurfaced in his mind last fall — and this time, everything clicked.
"I started with the chords I had before, but I made some changes," Chevalier explained. "I wanted something repetitive, something that sticks — and then 'I'm alright, I'm alright' just came. That little variation at the end of the longer chorus, shifting to 'Will be alright' — those are the kinds of subtle things that make a listener stay in a song."
Rather than defaulting to his trademark live saxophone arrangements, Chevalier made a deliberate creative choice to use a MIDI sax — a nod to the production aesthetic of contemporary pop. "I went out of my comfort zone to serve the music first, not myself," he said.
For the vocal performance, Chevalier searched extensively before landing on Buenos Aires-based singer Lumina B, whose voice he heard in his mind long before she stepped into the session. "I could already hear her on the song before she even recorded it," he said. "I knew she would do a great job — and she did."
The result has already turned heads. Acclaimed Canadian songwriter Liz Rodrigues — who has writing credits with Céline Dion and Pitbull — reviewed an early demo and told Chevalier it reminded her immediately of Dua Lipa’s universe. “She said if you take a good singer, you will have a great song,” Chevalier recalled. “That was exactly what I wanted to hear.” Rodrigues also noted that the track has the feel of a legitimate Top 40 contender.
Ahead of the official release, Chevalier shared the track exclusively with Red Line Radio in Switzerland — the same station where three of his previous singles reached No. 1 on their Top 50 chart. “I’m Alright” debuted at No. 28 and has already reached as high as No. 3 on the chart.
