From big screen to streams, actress and aspiring singer-songwriter, Elle Mona’e is taking over our eyes, ears, and hearts with her recent foray into the music scene. Her single, “Land of Groove” showcases her unwavering talent and charisma, paving the way for her future in music.
Elle’s transition to singing comes as no surprise. “I wanted to be a singer as a kid,” shares Elle Mona’e. “My parents got me a karaoke machine and CDs for Christmas back then.”
Over the years, however, Elle found support harder to come by, especially from her well-meaning parents who wanted her to pursue a secure job outside the arts. “I didn’t think anything would come of it,” she adds.
Fast forwarding a handful of years, when she was focused on building her online shop, Elle Mona’e was unexpectedly scouted by TV agents. Soon enough, she brought her charisma and style to the Netflix reality series, “Too Hot To Handle, Season 2.”
“It opened an artistic door for me to pursue other things,” Elle explains of starting with reality TV. “My manager found me and saw talent in me. Sometimes certain things have to happen and steps come into play that will help lead you to where you need to be.”
With natural talent and charisma, it’s no wonder Elle Mona’e is quickly emerging as an artist to be watched.
Elle takes pride in having a vast range of musical interests, covering various genres she looks forward to mixing. “I want to give people range,” says Elle. Among these influences are Mariah Carey, Ariana Grande, and Enya. Blending influences with elements of pop, R&B, and ethereal melodies, Elle Mona’e creates a vibe of her very own. “I‘ve gown comfortable with creating what I want to create and being my authentic self,” she adds.
When it comes to writing music, Elle Mona’e relies on feeling to guide her music. “It’s the energy I’m in—I focus on that.” Her current single, “Land of Groove,” was created alongside her previous management company.
Originally, the idea was to mold Elle to follow in the path of R&B artists like SZA. “I would go through songs because I wanted to impress them and show them I could do it. But it wasn’t how I felt or what I wanted to do. So, they let me pick out beats—fun beats, pop beats. And I made a pop song from there. When they heard me sing on the mic, the got it. There was a different energy. I’m not another SZA. I’m me.”
“I aim for my songs to be uplifting,” shares the singer. “We live in a crazy time. There are always unknown variables going on. We still have to live through these things, so I try to keep a positive energy and mindset. Whenever people play my song, I want that energy to come through. Wherever you are in the world, I hope my song is uplifting.”
In addition to “Land of Groove,” listeners can enjoy her new, uplifting R&B single, “Can’t Lose,” now streaming on all platforms.
“Land of Groove” is available on all streaming platforms, with promotional support from Starlight PR.
