Ariana Grande Wins MTV VMA for Video of the Year with Brighter Days Ahead

Ariana Grande scored one of the biggest honors at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, taking home the Moon Person for Video of the Year on Sunday night. The 32-year-old singer won for Brighter Days Ahead, the cinematic sci-fi visual short tied to her 2024 album Eternal Sunshine and its 2025 reissue, Eternal Sunshine Deluxe: Brighter Days Ahead. Grande accepted the award alongside the video’s director, Christian Breslauer, marking a major career milestone and an emotional moment of gratitude.

A Message of Healing and Resilience

On stage, Grande reflected on the personal meaning behind the project. “I want to start off, again, with my fans: Thank you so, so, so much. I love you with all my heart,” she said. “Art has been a safe space for me since I was a kid. I’m so grateful that I get to do this with my life and to have such fiercely loving and supportive fans.” Grande described the project as a tribute to the lifelong process of healing. “This project is about the hard work that is healing all different kinds of trauma and coming home to our young selves and creating safety in our own lives,” she explained. “If you're on that journey, please continue onward, because I promise there are brighter days ahead.”

Celebrating Collaboration

Breslauer also took the mic to acknowledge the team effort behind Brighter Days Ahead. “I’m so supported by the best team in the business,” he said. “I can only do this with them, so I’m sharing this award with them.” He also made the moment personal, adding: “I just want to give a special shoutout to my wife. We just had our first baby, and so the real queen is her.”

A Defining Career Moment

With this win, Grande adds another milestone to her ever-evolving artistic journey, one that continues to stretch across music, acting, theater, and beyond. For both Grande and her fans, the VMA win is not just recognition of her artistry — it’s also a celebration of resilience, growth, and brighter days ahead.
