Florence + The Machine have officially debuted the music video for “Everybody Scream,” the title track of their upcoming sixth studio album, set to arrive on October 31.
A Visual Guided by Autumn de Wilde
The cinematic visual is directed by Autumn de Wilde, capturing the song’s eerie yet powerful energy. The project marks the first preview of Florence Welch’s highly anticipated new record, which was written and produced over the course of two years.
Collaborations for the album include Mark Bowen of IDLES, Aaron Dessner, and Mitski, highlighting Welch’s ability to bridge genres while staying true to her ethereal and dramatic sound.
Inspired by Survival and Transformation
The creative direction for Everybody Scream is deeply influenced by Welch’s personal journey. Following a life-saving surgery during her “Dance Fever” tour, she turned to themes of spiritual mysticism, witchcraft, and folk horror to process both trauma and healing.
A Record About Life’s Thresholds
Lyrically and thematically, the album promises to confront ideas of womanhood, partnership, aging, and mortality, weaving together elements of myth and reality. By embracing the tension between fragility and resilience, Welch frames Everybody Scream as both a cathartic release and a meditation on the cycles of life.
