It appears that MTV does have a big enough bag to sway Puffy.

After stating he was on the fence about rebooting the show, Diddy has announced that Making the Band will return to TV.

In a statement released on Monday, Diddy revealed that the iconic reality TV competition show is hitting production.

"MTV and I are back together again!!" the statement reads via email. "Making the Band is coming back bigger, bolder and more cutting edge. MTB on MTV was the pioneer of reality TV. We're going to bring that supernatural energy back to the format and bring the world it's next global superstars."

At first, Diddy was hesitant about recreating the show. This is understandable as the original MTB sparked a pop culture movement. Moments like the sing off and the "Cheesecake Journey," drew viewers from every demographic. The MTB sensation even led Dave Chappell recreated Diddy's antics on his own iconic sketch comedy show.

Also, Puff was worried that his harsh criticism will not translate to today's artists. As a result, Puff took to Instagram before the announcement asking fans to hashtag "IWantMyMTB" if they were interested in seeing a new version of the classic series. After bombarding their favorite social media sites with the hashtag, it was clear that the fans were intrigued. This led MTV and Diddy to move forward with the project.

"We couldn't be happier to welcome back the incomparable Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs to his rightful home at MTV," the network's President of Entertainment Nina L. Diaz said in a statement. "Making the Band was ahead of its time and the ultimate disruptor – fans everywhere have been clamoring for a return and they are in for the biggest, most iconic season yet."

After seeing how it swayed Diddy to reprise the show, MTV and Puffy want interested contestants to upload video submissions to any social media platform with the hashtag "#MTBCasting." They will officially announce the start of casting in the upcoming weeks and potential MTB contestants must be 18 years of age or older.
